If wheatgrass smoothies aren’t your thing but you want the benefits of detoxing, there are other foods you can actually enjoy that will help with that.

If you’re thinking, “I think I’ll pass on those kinds of foods,” think again. These foods are both satisfying and delicious and have many detox properties to both cleanse your body and boost your body’s energy levels.

Everyone knows that detoxing can be beneficial to your body. The toxins your body absorbs both through foods and from the environment can be very damaging to your immune system. By adding a few of these nutritional, delicious foods into your daily diet, can be a healthy and powerful way to jumpstart your thyroid, boost your metabolism, and cleanse your body of impurities.

What have you got to lose? Consider the options:
• Option A — Eating delicious, healthy foods with no special diet book required, no visits to health food store, no purchasing special foods, and not starving.
• Option B — Starving your body and going through an extreme detox regimen. Risk harming your body and feeling weak from hunger.

Option A wins hands down. I’m not saying that detox regimens are bad. Some are safe and can leave your body feeling better than ever. The point is, if you eat healthy foods that naturally detox your body on a daily basis, there will be no reason to go through those regimens. To do this, here are a few foods you need to look for the next time you visit your grocery store:
• Brazil Nuts — These delicious and filling morsels are full of selenium. They help flush mercury from your system. Only two a day can help improve thyroid function.
• Goji Berries — If you usually add raisins to your diet, you might want to swap them for Goji berries. They help increase the intake of vitamin C to remove waste and beta-carotene which improves liver function.

• Onions — That onion you love also has cleansing properties. It has amino acids with sulfur that help detox your liver.

• Beets — They’re more than just bright and colorful. They flush out toxins by having plenty of magnesium, iron, calcium, and zinc.

• Basil — Just smelling dishes loaded with garlic, oregano, and basil can be mouthwatering. Basil is a powerful ingredient. It has anti-bacterial properties and antioxidants to protect your liver.

• Ginger — For a treat, ginger can be awesome. It will help you to boost your metabolism, removes waste, and has recently been found to help keep your appetite under control. Remember the smell of fresh-baked gingerbread Grandma used to make. Who knew yummy could be so good for you.

• Pineapple — Fresh pineapple and/or pineapple juice with no sugar added, can be a treat any time of day. In addition to being delicious and filling, pineapple has digestive enzymes to help you improve your digestion and cleanse your colon.

• Avocados — Guacamole…Yum! Tantalize your taste buds while absorbing insoluble and soluble fiber to help cleanse your colon.

• Cinnamon — A delicious way to boost metabolism. It adds flavor to almost everything and has plenty of iron, calcium, and manganese which helps your body process fatty acids and stabilize blood sugar.

• Apples — There’s a reason your mother told you to eat an apple a day. They are full of nutrients and excellent for detoxing. They contain pectin which helps remove metals and food additives from your body.

• Parsley — It’s often used for decoration, but don’t remove it from your food…eat it. The contain vitamins A, K, and C as well as beta carotene to help you take care of your bladder and kidneys.

It’s your choice. You can drink those detox shakes and watch others eat delicious foods, or you can choose to have the best of both worlds. You can eat deliciously and still keep your body free of toxins. That’s what you call a “no brainer!”
